Our Competencies and Activities
SOM's capabilities cover all product life cycle stages of its systems. It has both organizational and technological competence at all stages, from the formation of the system idea to research and product development, production and after-sales activities.
Our R&D capabilities include the end-to-end design and development of UAV systems' air platforms and ground components, including subsystems, and our activities are carried out in accordance with relevant military and civilian standards.
The design, analysis, prototype production and integration of composite, mechanical, electromechanical parts, communication and power cable sets in air platforms and ground components are carried out within SOM.
The software used in our systems is developed by SOM specifically for the relevant platform and subsystem.
Among our R&D capabilities
Mechanical systems design and development
Mechanical system design and development
CAD-based aircraft design and optimization, structural part design
Aircraft and mechanical systems analysis and simulation (aerodynamics, control and stability, structural analyses)
Aircraft performance analysis
Propulsion, fuel and take-off systems design and analysis
Propulsion systems integration
Electronic systems and avionics (aviation electronics) development
RF and microwave system design and analysis
Electrical/power systems design and analysis
Communication and power cables design and analysis
Mechatronic systems design and analysis
- Software development
o Object-oriented software development (interface, map and navigation systems, network-based and distributed systems, image transfer systems)
o Embedded software development
o Developing artificial intelligence (machine learning, image processing) applications
o Development of flight control and guidance systems
o Developing hardware-informed (HIL) simulation systems
- Design and development of ground support systems and test equipment
- Payload (camera, ammunition, radar, electronic support pods, etc.) electronic, mechanical and software integration and analysis activities are carried out.
Within the scope of R&D activities, prototype production, testing and design verification activities are also carried out.
The designed UAV systems are produced together with their subsystems and components, integrated and put into service after passing the detailed testing and quality control stages.
In our production activities, modern machinery and equipment required for high technology production are used. 3 and 5-axis advanced CNC machines, automatic typesetting machines, autoclaves wide enough to allow the production of long parts such as wings, composite ovens of various sizes and precision measuring devices are among the important equipment in our production park.
In composite manufacturing, part-specific techniques such as hand-laying, vacuum bagging, vacuum infusion, RTM can be used, and manufacturing can be done with exotic materials such as carbon fiber, kevlar, prepreg or their hybrids.
In our CNC park, aluminum and titanium alloy materials, which are used extensively in aviation, can be produced with precise surface and machining tolerances.
Our PCB and avionics production activities are carried out under clean room conditions in accordance with relevant military and civilian standards. In order to maintain military-level product quality, our production control processes are supported by appropriate equipment such as spectrum and network analyzers, signal generators, and high-resolution microscopes.
